So I’m going to be a chola for Halloween. Being some slutty bastardization of a cute animal or historical figure is fun, but this year I decided I would try to adhere to the idea of Oct. 31st as a day for the scary. And what’s scarier than a chola with a (water) gun? Nada, puta.

Crunchy hair, lip liner, big hoop earrings, and a giant blinged-out cross necklace should do the trick.

Here’s hoping I don’t get my ass kicked.

Beautiful, heartbreaking “Blood Bank” by Bon Iver.

I know it’s old – but is anything else so perfectly autumnal? I don’t think anyone but Lorde Yorke could even touch Joy Division/New Order, and “Ceremony” is probably my all-time favorite song.

Mmm, Yeasayer. “Sunrise” is really sexy.

Santigold fills the Halloween dance party void, since (sorry Rihanna) I’m really sick of “Disturbia.” (Dum dum dee dum dum!) The Switch & Sinden remix of “You’ll Find A Way” is perfect for Halloween.

I don’t ever use bookmarks on Firefox because I have about a billion, unsorted and cluttering my virtual life. But with my actual physical world absolutely clean and organized, I’m running out of ways to procrastinate… So, here I am, scanning through bucketfuls of broken and expired links from freshman year of college.

Speaking of buckets: I had a Photobucket account? (Things I don’t remember: that, my 22nd birthday festivities in Vegas, where my keys disappeared last night.)

Most of the pictures were pretty silly and pretty un-publishable, but I found this adorable picture of my little sister and I, from the weekend I moved into the dorms at The University of Washington. This is us at Pike Place, the public market in Seattle that has been featured in every movie or TV show that even vaguely references the Pacific Northwest.

I was so, so excited about starting college, being in love for the first time, exploring the city… And Michelle, well she was a 10-year old dork
